Leisure, Tourism and Sport Management

If you study Leisure, Tourism or Sport Management with us, you will be part of one of the most highly-rated departments in the country in terms of research. The Department received 4 out of 5 in the latest government Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) – the best score in this subject of any UK university – which means we have an international reputation that directly benefits our students and keeps you at the cutting edge of research in this exciting and expanding area.

We offer the chance to study or work abroad on most of our courses. If you study International Tourism Management, you can work for a year in either the UK or overseas and benefit from living and studying near London Luton Airport, home to several large travel companies. We also have established links with the Hilton Group, Monarch Airlines and easyJet, so we can find a placement that’s right for you.

Students on travel, tourism or leisure courses have the chance to go on field trips to look at the management and effects of tourism around the world, so you will be able to apply your theoretical knowledge to real tourism issues. Recent trips have been arranged (and thoroughly enjoyed!) to Andorra, Cuba, Kenya, Tunisia and Sri Lanka.
