| Media and Performing Arts
The University runs a wide range of courses covering media, art, design, performing arts, English and theatre.
The
School of Media, Art & Design aims to produce world-class
practitioners for the creative industries. Our teaching has been rated
as ‘excellent’ by the Quality Assurance Agency.
Our courses are
designed to bring out your full creative potential and the School
provides a dynamic environment in which tomorrow’s filmmakers,
journalists, artists and designers work alongside one another.
We
have strong links with industry, including international companies such
as JVC (which awards an annual video prize), national organisations
such as the BBC, and local newspapers.
The Bedford campus runs Performing Arts courses which
focus upon contemporary performance practice. Students can engage in
Dance and Theatre as separate disciplines, or examine the range of
possibilities in bringing the two subjects together. All courses are
strongly supported by the performance programme at the University's
on-campus professional theatre.
Students benefit from the
on-campus facilities such as the Bowen West theatre along with two
large dance studios which can be used as either practice or performance
spaces.
The English courses delivered at the Bedford campus,
enable students to combine options in literature, language and creative
writing. The courses offer an ideal balance between traditional and
more innovative areas of study, from Shakespeare to African literature,
from language acquisition to film adaptation.
